How does Shirodhara Help and Heal?
Shirodhara brings relaxation, balance and harmony to body, mind and spirit. The treatment relieves and rejuvenates the psyche and your physical vessel which heightens the senses and as an bonus benefit, encourages hair growth.
What is Shirodhara?
The ancient Indian Ayurvedic Shirodhara technique is a tranquil oil treatment for the head and crown chakra. It profoundly relaxes, soothes and invigorates the senses, mind and spirit. It enhances a feeling of wellness and mental clarity. Shirodhara literally means the dripping of oil like a thread (dhara) onto the forehead (shiro).
The treatment uses customized oils specifically formulated for your personal dosha. In Ayurveda there are three doshas vata, pitta and kapha. Their energies are believed to circulate in the body and govern physical, mental and emotional
characteristics. Each person has a dominant dosha or combination of doshas. In Ayurveda, it is believed that health is achieved through balancing the three dosha. An Ayurvedic herb and hemp infused mixture is poured from a historical copper Indian vessel that releases a continuous stream of warm oil on to the upper part of the forehead (the third eye) depending on your dosha's needs. All oils are individually customized for your body. Following the poured oil is a stimulating Champissage; an Indian meridian pressure point head and scalp massage that delivers stress relief to the full body.
